Fun Ideas For Dating!
Many young adults often feel that a date should be extravagant and expensive, and many of them feel a lot of pressure when it comes to dates. However, this really does not need to be the case. Dating is meant to be a fun way to get to know people and there is no reason to stress! I think dating is so much fun, so I thought I would share some really fun and creative date ideas!
Just before that though, you should always make sure your date follows the three P's: it is planned, paid for, and paired off. This means that the date should be planned in advance, so there is no time wasted on the date while you are trying to figure out what to do. Next, the date should be paid for. It is just considerate for the person that planned the date to pay--or at least be willing to pay--for their date if spending money is required. Lastly, you need to be paired off with someone if you are on a date. The point of a date is to get to know a specific person better, which does not really work if you are in a big group and hardly even paying attention to the person you asked on the date. I know this is pretty basic information, but it is pretty important.
So now that you know the three P's, I'm sure you are wondering what some fun date ideas are! There are so many fun and inexpensive activities you can do. These are just some date ideas the I really liked or that we talked about in class, so I'll just list some of my favorites.
- One of the most simple dates was a date my teacher was asked on when he was younger. First they went to the movies, which is a little cliché. I would not recommend only watching a movie for your date because it will likely be unmemorable and you won't really get to know your date better. However, for the second part of their date, the girl took him to a flower shop owned by her uncle and set up a table with his favorite meal. I think this is such a cute and thoughtful idea! It showed that she really cared about what her date liked and was not only creative, but it did not cost her very much money either.
- Another date my teacher told us about involved a little more planning, but it sounded like it was so much fun. He lived near a lake when he was younger, and there was an island in the middle of it. For the date he and his friend took the girls to the lake and convinced them to borrow some abandoned canoes on the shore to paddle to the island (these canoes actually belonged to the boys, but they thought it would be fun to let the girls think that this was just a spontaneous idea). Then when they got to the island they heard some music playing. After they walked a little ways in, they discovered that the boys had set up a picnic in the middle of a clearing for the date. This is such a fun idea, and I am sure it was very memorable. You could also plan a similar date idea for going on a hike or a nature walk.
- Someone in my class shared that once he and his friend set up a double date and they just bought a few cheap cars from the store and had a little pinewood derby for their date. This is pretty simple and did not cost much money, but it was a very creative and a fun idea! This shows that it really does not take much effort to plan a fun date.
- One of my favorite dates that I ever went on was real-life Fruit Ninja. If you haven't heard of it, Fruit Ninja is just a mobile game where you try to chop all of the fruit that pops up on the screen before it disappears. So for my date we used some dull swords that my date owned, and we had to try to chop pieces of fruit as our dates threw fruit at us. It put me out of my comfort zone a little bit, but I ended up having a really good time! Then afterwards we cleaned off the fruit (the fruit landed on a tarp, so it actually didn't touch the ground) and made smoothies from it while watching a movie. It was really fun, and such a creative idea!
- Another idea is to make boats out of cardboard and race each other in either a pool or another safe body of water. Someone I know told me about it, and it sounds really fun and like a great way to find out how ingenuitive or competitive your date might be!
